Join the celebrations at Northern Pride.
The Northumberland, Tyne and Wear branch will be attending Northern Pride in 2024 and all members are welcome to join us.
We will have a stand next to Grey's Monument, where the marketplace is 'unapologetically visible' this year. It will be running from 10am to 5pm and the march will start at 12pm.
The full details of the march have not been shared yet as the event is running completely differently this year. Instead of being at the normal site of the town moor, it is being held in the centre of the city. There were over 10,000 people in last year's march even though it rained, so the timing of the march finish is unpredictable and will depend on road closures etc.
This year we are hoping for sun.
Andrew Mather, branch chair, will set up the stand at Times Square, also known as the Centre for Life. It needs at least two people manning it at all times, so please do volunteer for a turn. You'll meet lots of lovely people and there will be plenty of leaflets and incentives such as sweets, pens, bags, beany hats, badges and more to offer them. Some people will already have bought weekend passes last year. If not, tickets to access the arena area are now available if anyone wants any details on the Northern Pride tickets webpage.
