Climate change and antimicrobial resistance (AMR): The greatest global health threats of our time and their close relationship

20 Sep 2021, 16:45 - 17:15

  • Room 3B, Online
Hosted by: Students Committee with the Public Health Forum, CYP Staying Healthy Forum, CYP Professional Issues Forum, Newly Registered Nurses Network, Infection Prevention and Control Network and UK Health Alliance on Climate Change

This is an overview of the effects of climate change and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on health and healthcare systems. Independently climate change and AMR are the biggest health threats to humanity. The effects of climate change are myriad and becomingly increasingly evident. AMR threatens to send us back to a time when we were unable to easily treat infections. Most worrying, and less reported, the two issues are linked. Future generations will experience the cumulative effects of climate change and AMR on the health of national and global populations.

As a profession, nursing staff have a duty to tackle these problems to protect the health of patients and the planet. To that end, this session will be of interest to all nurses everywhere but perhaps particularly those nurses linked to the entity’s hosting the session.

Members can watch a video of the session below. The subtitles have been automatically generated by AI. A corrected version will be available soon.
