Managing migraine - much more than “just a headache”!
19 Sep 2021, 12:30 - 13:00
Many of you will care for people who suffer from migraine headaches. You may also suffer migraines yourself. This event is aimed at health care professionals wishing to recognise, assess and treat the condition. Although headaches are the third most common neurological health problem in the UK, there is a lack of education and understanding about migraines. As a result, these severe headaches often go undiagnosed and untreated, leaving many people with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. They are also a public health issue, causing damage to both society and the economy.
The session will look at how migraines are assessed and classified against other headache symptoms. It will also discuss the complexities of medication overuse and promote holistic, non-medical prescribing and nurse-led clinical activities. The session is aimed at members working in neuroscience, pain and palliative care, public health, GP nursing staff, e-health and advanced nursing practice.
Members can watch a video of the session below. The subtitles have been automatically generated by AI. A corrected version will be available soon.
