Understanding long COVID: recognition, support and care
18 Sep 2021, 17:45 - 18:15
The Office for National Statistics (2021) reports that 1.1 million people living in the UK suffer with long COVID - more than four weeks after their first suspected COVID-19 episode. This event examines the gravity of the situation and how we can better care for people living with the virus. Long COVID does not currently have a universally agreed definition - nor is it clear how to best manage the disease and support people.
The session will explain the pathophysiology of the virus, better define the condition, and examine the current principles on helping patients with Long COVID. Nursing staff from all health sectors, including support staff and student nurses, are welcome.
Members can watch a video of the session below. The subtitles have been automatically generated by AI. A corrected version will be available soon.
