Eye care: Identification and treatment of emergency and non-emergency ophthalmic conditions

14 May 2018, 09:00 - 09:45

  • Meeting Room 1B, Belfast Waterfront, 2 Lanyon Place, Belfast, BT1 3WH
  • Free
  • Hosted by: RCN Ophthalmic Nursing Forum
This workshop is aimed at all non-ophthalmic health care professionals and will benefit delegates by introducing them to safe, evidence-based ophthalmic practice and giving them the tools to recognise emergency and non-emergency ophthalmic conditions.
Eye care in nursing is a specialist practice that is either given minimal attention during the nursing qualification studies programme or not mentioned at all. Thus, we have a huge workforce employed in diverse areas (nursing homes to non-ophthalmic wards in hospitals), that may not be aware of the evidence-based practice of eye care and  are therefore unable to recognise emergency and non-emergency conditions.
