Hand in glove: Glove use and hand care in nursing and social care

Glove use is central to protecting health care workers from exposure to harmful chemicals or infectious blood/body fluids. Increasing recognition of, and concerns over inappropriate use of gloves and the effects this can bring requires a new approach to support health care workers in practice and avoid waste of precious resources. This fringe event will focus on appropriate and sustainable glove use to protect both patients and staff and look at the measures required to protect the integrity of the skin on nurses’ hands and prevent work-related dermatitis.
