Helping children and families through gender identity issues

21 May 2019, 09:00 - 09:45

  • 12, ACC Liverpool , Kings Dock , Liverpool Waterfront , Liverpool , L3 4FP
  • Hosted by: RCN CYP Staying Healthy Forum
Every child and young person is different: there is no single narrative for being transgender, and gender identity may be fixed, fluid, neutral or non-binary.
Support and understanding is key, and if children and young people are enabled to explore their gender without censure, they are happier, with greater self-esteem and self-confidence. We’ll look at the importance of language and introduce the training programme of Charity Mermaids who raise awareness of gender diversity, campaign for the recognition of gender dysphoria in young people, and lobby for improvements in professional services. This event will educate and empower you to embrace your role as a trans ally.
