Introducing the perioperative educational standards framework

The Perioperative Forum have been working to produce a framework to support the education of staff working in perioperative environments. The framework will provide a template of basic requirements and level of competence for nurses from pre-operative assessment, through theatre, to the surgical wards.

During this workshop-style session the forum will introduce the framework and the evidence base behind it, followed by an open discussion with members on how they can make it most accessible and useful in the workplace. 

The session is aimed at all those working in perioperative roles, including health care assistants, nursing associates in scrub roles, assistant practitioners, registered nurses and student nurses, advanced practice perioperative nurses and all members of the RCN Perioperative Forum.
