Approximately 1.4million people in the UK have a learning disability.

People with a learning disability have worse physical and mental health than people without a learning disability, with lower life expectancy and more complex health problems. People with a learning disability are significantly over represented in the criminal justice system. The Prison Report Trust estimates that up to 30% of prisoners have some form of learning disability/learning difficulty.

This fringe will explore how the needs of prisoners with a learning disability can be better met and the important role that nurses play in delivering the right support.
