Taking the format of a debate will explore how the nursing profession can work more collaboratively to support the health needs of autistic people. The Care Quality Commission report Out of sight, Who cares? (2020) shows how autistic people are falling between the cracks of services in mental health care. Health care professionals are responsible for ensuring reasonably adjusted, accessible support for autistic people is available.

This event will explore the barriers blocking successful health care support for autistic people and how these challenges can be solved. The session will help delegates explore the issues impacting learning disability and mental health nursing. It discusses the challenges of care provision for autistic people and their mental health care.
