The term modern day slavery includes slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. People involved in modern day slavery can be recruited from another country or within the UK.
The reason for the recruitment or trafficking can include sexual exploitation, forced labour, domestic servitude and organ harvesting.

The Home Office estimates there are 13,000 victims and survivors of modern slavery in the UK.

This session will include a definition of each of the terms used in modern day slavery, possible signs that people may be involved in modern day slavery and what to do if someone you are providing care to discloses that they are involved in modern day slavery. The session will also include the support that the national referral mechanism can offer post disclosure.
