Mouth matters project, Mouth Care Matters (MCM), was successfully piloted across Kent Surrey and Sussex in 2017 and subsequently rolled-out to 30 Trusts across England with the focus on improving oral health.

Research shows that oral care is often lacking in hospital and community care settings, especially to patients who may be unable to carry out their own personal care and rely on others for support.

Mini Mouth Care matters (miniMCM) is the paediatric arm to the programme and now rolling out nationally throughout 2019.

Health Education England in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital has developed an oral health care training package to empower our nursing colleagues to take ownership of the mouth care of their patients.
