Palliative and end of life care is everyone’s business!
The presentation will provide an overview of the potential impact of living with a life limiting condition for the person with the condition and those important to them. Communication, including the need for clear definitions, the use of common language between teams and the need for role clarity will be emphasised. The integral role of honest, timely communication with patients/carers about what to expect in the future will be discussed. The content of the session will reflect the needs of those from different areas of practice and how the national strategies in the four countries are implemented. There will be a focus on the fundamentals of care in the last days of life and the valuable contribution nursing plays at this difficult time for those who are dying and those important to them.
Time will be allowed for discussion.
