Donor to patient the nurse's roles

After this event, delegates will be able to return to their area of practice with an increased awareness of the many roles within the transfusion journey.
The journey will commence with the nurses assessing the eligibility of the potential blood donor, the nurses involved in pre-optimisation, undertaking pre-transfusion health assessments, nurse prescription of blood, to nurses involved with the care of patients being transfused in both primary and secondary care. This event will contain examples of achievements and innovations in the transfusion journey and will end with those nurses involved in transfusion clinical audit, research, incident management, patient safety and those influencing evidence based practice.
