Take a break from the day-to-day and join fellow RCN members for a poetry workshop with nurse and poet Romalyn Ante.
Places & People: A Poetry Writing Workshop on Belonging with Romalyn Ante
'The city teaches the man.' – Simonides
Place and identity have always been interlinked, whether in geography, environmental psychology, urban planning, or ecocriticism. In this one-hour workshop we will explore how our identity is influenced by and responds to a physical place. Romalyn will share with you practical techniques, that will deepen our understanding of how poetry bridges concepts such as home and the unfamiliar, loss and recovery, suffering and joy.
Romalyn Ante left her home country of the Philippines in 2005 when her mother, a nurse in the NHS, brought the family to the UK. Romalyn currently practises as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner. Her debut poetry collection, Antiemetic for Homesickness, will come out with Chatto & Windus in July.
