This session will be presented by Ed Freshwater, Community Mental Health Nurse and Chair of the RCN Mental Health Forum. The meeting will also incorporate the branch Annual General Meeting.
At this interactive workshop, Ed will share some insights on how mental health issues can affect not just judgement but also trust, communication and concordance during care interventions. In addition, he will facilitate group discussions and problem-solving along with working examples to aid this process.
Finally the session will explore the impact of stigma and discrimination in mental health and how we can all work to challenge this.
You can book your place now on this Learning Event. The event is free for RCN members, while non-members will be charged £20 + VAT. This fee will be reimbursed if the attendee joins the RCN on the day.
If you can attend one branch meeting a year, then please make it the AGM. Come along and help make a difference, by shaping local branch activities for the year ahead and electing your branch committee members.
Branch meetings provide opportunities for you to get involved in shaping the future of your branch, have your say on how the branch is run and learn more about the activities it undertakes.
And if you're interested in getting more involved, why not consider standing for one of the branch committee posts, which includes branch chair, secretary and treasurer?
Being a branch committee member is a great personal and professional development opportunity – you can find out more about the roles here.
If you want to put yourself forward for election, please email the regional administrator on westmidlands.region@rcn.org.uk. This will ensure that anyone who can't attend the meeting itself is still able to stand. Alternatively, you can put yourself forward at the meeting itself.
If you want more information, please call the RCN West Midlands Regional Office on 0121 450 4300.
If you're a new member and this is your first AGM, please come along and get involved. It’s a great way to meet local colleagues and other RCN members and influence the year ahead.
If you have any queries about this event, or want more information, please call the RCN West Midlands Regional Office on 0121 450 4300.
