RCN Birmingham West and Sandwell Local Learning Event: What is resilience and how do we develop it?
plus branch AGM
05 Nov 2019, 14:00 - 16:00
Choose event information:
This session, presented by Maria Lewis, RCN West Midlands Regional Development Officer, explores easy, accessible and practical ways of raising our own awareness, and promoting emotional well-being in ourselves, both inside and outside of the workplace. It will also incorporate the branch Annual General Meeting.
Nursing is a rewarding yet challenging profession. However, research suggests that while nurses bend over backwards to get the best outcomes for their patients, looking after their own well-being (and especially their emotional well-being) often comes low down on the to-do list, running the risk of not putting on our own oxygen mask first before helping others.
This is a short taster session. However, materials will be provided for those who want to explore the topic further.
You can book your place now on this Learning Event. The event is free for RCN members, while non-members will be charged £20 + VAT. This fee will be reimbursed if the attendee joins the RCN on the day.
If you can attend one branch meeting a year, then please make it the AGM. Come along and help make a difference, by shaping local branch activities for the year ahead and electing your branch committee members.
Branch meetings provide opportunities for you to get involved in shaping the future of your branch, have your say on how the branch is run and learn more about the activities it undertakes.
And if you're interested in getting more involved, why not consider standing for one of the branch committee posts, which includes branch chair, secretary and treasurer?
Being a branch committee member is a great personal and professional development opportunity – you can find out more about the roles here. And if you want to speak to somebody about what the roles entail, you can email Stuart Young, the current Branch Chair.
If you want to put yourself forward for election, please email the regional administrator on westmidlands.region@rcn.org.uk. This will ensure that anyone who can't attend the meeting itself is still able to stand. Alternatively, you can put yourself forward at the meeting itself.
If you want more information, please call the RCN West Midlands Regional Office on 0121 450 4300.
If you're a new member and this is your first AGM, please come along and get involved. It’s a great way to meet local colleagues and other RCN members and influence the year ahead.
If you have any queries about this event, or want more information, please call the RCN West Midlands Regional Office on 0121 450 4300.
