About
RCN Northern is proud to represent around 19, 000 nurses, health care assistants, nursing students and midwives across the North East and Cumbria. Based in Sunderland, RCN Northern covers a challenging geographical area, spanning densely populated conurbations and large rural areas. As such, the delivery of care our members provide to very different populations and the challenges they face while doing so can vary significantly.
RCN Northern is passionate about securing improvements in employment terms and conditions, and actively represents members within a variety of workplaces in the NHS and independent sector.
At a time of unprecedented change and pressure on health care professionals, we are proud to be at the forefront of political lobbying activity and are vocal about how changes to the workforce will affect members and the general public.
Against this backdrop, we actively support the continuing professional development of our members to help them achieve their full potential.
The RCN Northern region has four branches:
• Northumberland, Tyne and Wear
• County Durham and Darlington
• Tees Valley
• Cumbria
