RCN Council members are responsible for providing guidance and direction on the vision and strategic aims of the RCN, working with the Executive Team to ensure the RCN achieves its Royal Charter objectives. Council also provides oversight to ensure the organisation operates effectively.
Nominations close on 23 January with voting opening on 1 March if seats are contested. More information can be found on our election pages.
The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), which took place on 29 November, was called by Council to provide members with an opportunity to discuss the findings of an independent review into the culture of the RCN. The agenda included a vote on a member resolution, which was a question of confidence in RCN Council’s leadership during the period from 2018 to July 2021.
The member resolution, which was advisory, called upon those current and relevant members of Council (during the period from 2018 to July 2021) to resign with immediate effect and not to put themselves forward for future elected roles within the RCN.
Following a related discussion, the resolution was passed with 93% of the members who voted supporting the resolution. See the full result here.
