Celebrating Care Home Open Week

26 June - 2 July 2023

This Care Home Open Week, we are championing the critical role fulfilled by care home nurses and nursing support workers

Care Home Open Week, organised by Championing Social Care, takes place between Monday 26 June and Sunday 2 July. It is an opportunity for care homes to open their doors to the local community, demystify what happens inside, and welcome future residents to visit. It can also be an ideal time to showcase the rewarding careers available within the care sector.

Join in the celebrations this year! #CHOW23

Hear from RCN National Officer for independent health and social care, Clare Jacobs, as she commends the often-misunderstood role of nursing staff within care homes and gives thanks.

Raising the profile

Sarah and Claire share their first-hand experiences and offer inspiration to those considering a career in care.

The benefits of care home placements

"A care home provides a practice learning environment for students to see and experience first-hand the value of an extended nursing role. The highly skilled nurses that students work with are experts in care, experienced at supporting people in an unfamiliar environment and deft at preparing for assessments."

"This is my dream job"

"All nursing staff working in care homes should have the same development opportunities as nurses working in the community or on wards."
